2026 Innovations in Pedagogy Summit Virtual Track
This year's Innovations in Pedagogy Summit invites us to explore the role of trust in creating conditions where students and instructors can both thrive. Join colleagues from UVA and beyond to highlight teaching practices that deepen engagement, build community, and support transformative learning.
This Summit's virtual track focuses on the context of online teaching, with all sessions delivered via Zoom. We hope this track provides a useful professional learning experience for UVA educators who teach online, especially those who live remote from Charlottesville.
The virtual track will feature our keynote speaker Dr. Isis Artze-Vega, lead author and editor of The Norton Guide to Equity-Minded Teaching and co-author of Connections Are Everything: A College Student’s Guide to Relationship-Rich Education. In her interactive keynote presentation titled "Toward Rigor, Health, & Equanimity: The What, Why, & How of Cultivating Trusting Relationships," Dr. Artze-Vega will describe the multifaceted benefits of trusting relationships for faculty and students alike, including their impact on learning. She will acknowledge key challenges in earning and maintaining trust when teaching online, suggest practical approaches, crowdsource ideas, and offer participants a brief, low-stakes opportunity to try out an online trust generator.
The virtual track will also feature interactive sessions and short presentations by our colleagues at UVA and other institutions. All events in the virtual track will be offered via Zoom. View the schedule-at-a-glance. The full program will be released soon.
Please note that this year's Summit features both an on-site and virtual track. Visit our on-site track page if you're interested in attending the Summit in person.
